Benefits of Using PDO Threads

PDO threads stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. When PDO threads are inserted in the skin, they create micro-injuries. To heal these injuries, your body boosts collagen and elastin production. Together, these proteins make your skin tighter, softer, and fuller, making your face brighter, blemish-free, and shapelier.

At Beautifully New, we recommend the PDO smooth & lift threads treatment to:
• Lift droopy eyebrows.
• Tighten skin around the eyes and reduce the appearance of crow’s feet.
• Reduce the size of bags under the eyes.
• Lift sagging cheeks into place and reduce the appearance of marionette lines.
• Smoothen nasolabial folds.
• Tighten sagging jowls and tuck-in a double chin.
• Lift and tighten the neck.

Our medspa experts will evaluate your cosmetic needs and will develop a customized treatment plan to ensure you get the aesthetic results you desire. Speak to us for more information.

What Are PDO Threads?

Polydioxanone threads (also called PDO smooth & lift threads) are FDA approved medical-grade sutures that are made from a single filament which is no wider than a strand of human hair. The monofilament nature of the threads makes them very gentle on the skin and reduces the risk of any post-treatment infection or scarring. They are extremely soft sutures that come in multiple braid types and each type of braid can be used for a different part of the face and neck.

There are two major types of PDO threads – barbed threads and non-barbed threads. Barbed threads contain microscopic barb-like projections on the surface, which sink into the skin, assist with the lifting, and provide support to the dermal tissues. They are used in the regions of the face which show severe signs of aging and require extensive lifting. Non-barbed threads are used in places where lifting is mild.

PDO threads are extremely skin-friendly, having been designed specifically for cosmetic treatments. There are no toxins in the PDO threads and research has shown that the threads contain ingredients that can soothe and relax the muscles where they are embedded. They stay in the place where they were embedded for a few months, before dissolving. This ensures you don’t need to get them removed later.

Overall, it may take 4 to 5 months for the threads to be absorbed fully. Their lifting and smoothing effect remains for a few more weeks after absorption. This feature of the PDO threads makes them ideal for facelifts. You only need to get the thread lift once, to experience a complete facelift for the next 5 to 6 months, maybe longer if you use the right skincare routine.

The PDO Thread Facelift Process

We ask you to remove your makeup and lie down on the treatment bed. Then we start the treatment.

Although it is a relatively pain-free treatment, the PDO thread lift may cause minor discomfort when the sutures enter your skin. To prevent any pain during the treatment our staff will apply numbing agents on your face and neck.

Once you are numbed, we will start the suturing process using a needle-like device called the cannula. During the consultation, we will have prepared a treatment plan, identifying the areas of your face and neck that require lifting, tightening, and smoothing. We will start from one area of the face and work our way over the entire facial, chin, and neck regions.

The cannula we use for the procedure is extremely fine. So you don’t have to worry about the PDO threads leaving any scars. Once the sutures settle-into your skin, you’ll hardly notice them.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

The entire PDO threads facelift procedure may take between 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how extensive the treatment is. Once the treatment is complete, your face may become slightly puffy and red. There may also be minor bruising, but all of these will subside in a day.

Caring for Your Skin Post-Facelift

You can return to your normal routine immediately after the treatment but we recommend you take it easy for a few days. Your face will be a little tender and you should avoid touching it for a few hours. Also avoid making gestures, as this movement may loosen the sutures or in worse cases, break them.

We recommend that you avoid extensive physical exertion and at least for a week, you stick to low impact exercises like walking. After this, you can resume your normal lifestyle.

The results of the PDO thread facelift will remain for 5 to 6 months. You can contact us at Beautifully New for more information.
