What Are Cosmelan Peels?

Cosmelan is an intensive depigmentation treatment regimen for the spots on your skin.

Hyperpigmentation is a problem that affects most people at some point in their lives, especially as you grow older. Studies have shown that it affects over 90% of all adults over 50 years of age. Besides the unattractiveness, their appearance is also linked to negative psychological effects and a deteriorating sense of assurance and confidence.

Hyperpigmentation occurs due to the abnormal or excessive production of melanin, i.e., the pigment responsible for your skin color. Excessive melanin production leads to dark spots, textural irregularities, and coloration problems that make your skin look marked, unattractive, aged, and worn.

Cosmelan peels are the world’s leading depigmentation products for melasma, solar and senile lentigo (also known as “age spots”), post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and freckles. The Cosmelan treatment starts with in-office medical-grade peels and continues with at-home sessions — the combined effects of the products lead to better depigmentation, more comfort, and lower risk of recurrence.

What Do Cosmelan Peels Treat?

Cosmelan peels treat all kinds of skin concerns and spots that occur due to problems with melanin production. They’re suitable for all skin types, colors, and ethnicities. The following are the primary skin concerns that Cosmelan peels treat:

  • Melasma due to hormone therapy, pregnancy, use of contraceptive pills, etc.
  • Solar and senile lentigo due to photoaging
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to underlying inflammatory problems, such as scars and acne
  • Freckles that darken due to sun radiation

How Do Cosmelan Peels Work?

Cosmelan peels combine corrective and regulative benefits to provide short-term and long-term improvements. The corrective action of the products removes the excessive melanin deposits from the surface of your skin. The regulating action controls the production of melanin at the melanocyte, i.e., the underlying cell where melanin is produced.

The Cosmelan treatment proceeds in four stages. It begins with an in-office medical-grade Cosmelan treatment followed by at-home aesthetic-grade Cosmelan masks.

Phase 1:
Medical-Grade Cosmelan Pack MD

Our skincare providers apply several layers of the medical-grade Cosmelan peel (Cosmelan Pack MD) to the treatment areas. You have to wear the mask for 8 to 12 hours and then carefully wash it off at home. Cosmelan Pack MD is incredibly powerful and contains a strong concentration of ingredients. The in-office treatment provides corrective benefits, removing excessive melanin.

Phases 2-4:
Aesthetic-Grade Cosmelan Packs

Next, you will apply the recommended Cosmelan products several times a day for up to 7 months. Our skincare providers will recommend the ideal Cosmelan products for the different phases of your treatment. It is important to follow the guidelines accurately. The at-home treatment provides the regulating benefits to control the overproduction of melanin in the melanocyte.

When Do You See Results from Cosmelan Peels?

Your skin will appear smooth and clear with decreased spots a few days or weeks after the first in-office treatment. That’s because the medical-grade Cosmelan pack will remove the excessive melanin from your skin’s surface.

However, these results are temporary — the only way to maintain the results is by following through with the entire Cosmelan treatment regimen. The at-home treatment must be continued for several months to regulate melanin production and prevent a recurrence.

You’ll be able to resume most of your daily activities immediately after the treatment. However, you should avoid bathing in swimming pools, excessive sun exposure, or vigorous activities that make you sweat.
